Over time, varicose veins can result in more severe symptoms such as pain, swelling, and skin changes. Dermatitis causes darkening of the skin, and eventually the skin can break down with venous ulcers that are very difficult to heal. A combination of laser ablation and sclerotherapy with compression stockings is necessary to treat this condition.
